Former Doctor Faces Sexual Assault Charges Involving 38 Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have stated that a former doctor now faces charges for performing assaults involving 38 victims who were under his care.
The Grave Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham faces allegations of numerous acts of sexual assault – some of which involve some against children younger than 13 – between 2017 and 2021.
One senior prosecutor said, “Our prosecutors have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex police inquiry, carefully reviewing the available evidence to establish that there is a strong case to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Police Inquiry
The charges follow what police described as a “complex investigation” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: a hospital in Stoke-on-Trent and Russells Hall hospital.
Spencer will appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on January 20th.
Breakdown of Charges
Prosecutors said the 45 sexual offences he is charged with:
- Fifteen counts of sexual assault.
- Seventeen counts of penetrative assault.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- 3 counts of assault of a child under 13 by penetration.
- 1 count of attempted penetrative assault.
Authorities have asked individuals with information to get in touch with the relevant police force.
