Fresh Information Come to Light Concerning the Finding of the Reiner Couple's Remains
Recent details have emerged regarding the untimely demises of esteemed film director Rob Reiner and artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose remains were located at their Los Angeles home home on Sunday.
A Initial Report
A source indicates quoting a family associate, a therapist scheduled for an session first raised the alarm after not being able to enter the residence. This individual then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who lives close by.
When she went into the home, Romy found her father's body. Accounts indicate she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Her roommate who had gone with her contacted 911. Afterward, emergency responders located Michele Singer Reiner's body.
Criminal Developments
The police have charged the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of premeditated murder, along with the use of a dangerous weapon, said to be a knife. He is presently being held and denied bail.
Disputed Reports
The anonymous source challenged several initial details. It was stated that while Romy Reiner informed first responders that her brother Nick resided in a detached unit on the property, she did not identify him as a suspect at that moment.
The source also disputed published suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been particularly "concerned" about Nick's behavior in the preceding period. Rather the family was "used to working through [Nick's] problems together."
The statement also extends to descriptions of reportedly "unpredictable" conduct by Nick at a party thrown by Conan O'Brien on the night before the tragedy. Although the source stated they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "chastised" his son at the party, they said that reports of a "heated argument" between the two were untrue.
Ongoing Inquiry Details
According to law enforcement officials, the medical examiner had not yet established as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Some accounts indicated the condition of their bodies pointed to they had been deceased for some hours.
Nick Reiner was taken into custody at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park, some 15 miles from the family home. He was due to appear in court on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, indicated his client had not received medical clearance and would not appear until Wednesday or later.
