Iran Reports Attack on US Base in the Kingdom of Bahrain, Amid Regional Military Operations.
Tehran reports attacking a US naval base in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations across the region in retaliation for a significant and ongoing assault against it by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an area close to the main base of the US Navy's Fifth Fleet in Manama, Bahrain. The scope of any impact is not yet known and the US has not commented.
Regional Interceptions
Elsewhere across the region, the UAE, Qatar and Kuwait - which all house American military installations - reported they have shot down missiles in their air space.
In Doha, Qatar's defence ministry said it had successfully engaged several missiles seemingly aimed at the al-Udeid air base, the biggest US military installation in the Middle East.
Iran's Declared Retaliation
The Iranian Revolutionary Guard declared it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in response for the attack on the Islamic Republic launched by the United States and its ally Israel on Saturday morning.
That preceding assault - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far targeted sites linked to the the regime, with President Trump calling on the Iranian people to revolt against the regime.
Regional Fallout
In Israel, air raid sirens sounded nationwide after the Israeli military said it had detected an barrage of missiles from Iran.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates announced that the nation has been subjected to a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"Emirati air defenses responded to the missiles with high efficiency and shot down a number of missiles," it added.
The statement noted missile fragments landed in a residential area in Abu Dhabi, causing some structural damage and the death of one civilian.
The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the UAE Air Force.
