Paceman Atkinson Adds to England's Fitness Problems.
'Significant concern' for England after Atkinson is forced off due to a hamstring issue.
The English seamer increased the injury concerns plaguing England when he left the ground early on day two of the Boxing Day Test in the Ashes series.
The right-arm seamer experienced discomfort in his hamstring immediately following a delivery in his spell on Saturday.
Team management indicated the 27-year-old reported "discomfort" and required time off the field in order to be assessed "during the day".
The final Test of the series beginning on 4 January starts this coming Sunday.
The visitors have already lost fast bowlers Mark Wood to a knee injury and Jofra Archer because of a side injury on this Ashes tour.
A replacement bowler was called up as cover for Wood.
The seamer had a tough time during the first two matches, managing only three wickets.
He was omitted from the previous Test, only to be brought back for the Melbourne Test to fill the void.
The county bowler performed better in the fourth Test, taking two wickets during the host's first knock, and scoring 28 runs while batting being one of only three teammates to reach double figures.
After bowling one over at the end of day one, he returned for the second day's play and had nightwatchman Scott Boland caught behind.
Unfortunately, at the end of his spell, he sent down a variation to the batsman and promptly felt his left hamstring.
The English bowler was recalled for the fourth Ashes Test following his omission the Adelaide game.
