Former President Donald Trump announced on the weekend that he has asked the loved ones of a Guard member tragically killed last week to attend the executive mansion.

He noted that he conversed with her family and they were “deeply grieving”.

Details on the Heartbreaking Shooting

Soldier Beckstrom, twenty years old, was killed in a attack on last Wednesday in Washington DC.

Her fellow service member, Andrew Wolfe, 24, is still in the hospital in serious condition.

Vigils across the state have been held in their remembrance.

Presidential Call

The commander-in-chief stated he’s discussed a meeting at the presidential residence for the families of both members of the West Virginia National Guard.

“I stated: ‘When you’re prepared, because that’s a hard experience, visit the White House. We’re going to honor her,” the president informed the press. “And in the same way with him, no matter the outcome.”

Public Response

Mourners gathered over the weekend at a local school in the state to remember Beckstrom.

Both they had been working with the state guard as part of the president’s government program to aid public safety in Washington DC.

Honoring Beckstrom

“She was the type of pupil that teachers wished for. She behaved with calm resilience, a bright grin and a upbeat demeanor that encouraged those around her,” Hankins, the principal of her alma mater, stated to the media. “She was sweet, compassionate and always eager to assist people.”

Service plans for Beckstrom are yet to be finalized.

Legal Actions and Policy Revisions

Authorities have accused a twenty-nine-year-old individual from Afghanistan with a charge of first-degree murder and two counts of attempted murder while carrying a weapon.

The tragedy led the administration to suspend asylum applications and temporarily stop issuing visas to possessors of travel documents.

Condition of Wolfe

Wolfe, a native of Martinsburg, started his military career in 2019 and is a 2019 graduate of Musselman high school, according to the AP.

He is still undergoing care and is “battling to survive”, West Virginia governor Patrick Morrisey mentioned on a news program.

Attorney general Bondi informed a news show that she also intended to meet with his relatives.

Memory of Beckstrom

Beckstrom, from her hometown, graduated from her high school in June 2023 and began her service not long after, serving as a law enforcement officer with excellence, according to the state guard.

“She had a lot of goodness and she certainly had bravery,” Morrisey told the gathering at the vigil. “Though her life lasted far too short, she has left a mark that’s going to endure.”
